Pushing a double stroller, in the snow with the brakes on, up hill… both ways.

a new year. this orchid is just starting to bloom despite being wripped up by toddlers nimble fingers

I thought I would share how our first week of the new year has been going.  We spent new years eve together watching the live webcast of the ball drop.  Since we decided a few years ago to forgo cable there have only been a few moments (for me at least ) where I have missed not having tv like everyone else.  This was one of those moments. But the most important thing for us has always been to be together on new years eve and to share our first kiss of the new year.
We then proceeded to randomly text everyobe we knew to let them know that it was new years eve.  It also sparked a skype conversation with  cola war vet in vancouver where I almost always need to cross my legs when I laugh.  We stayed up till the ball dropped in vancouver then texted a few more people on that side of the country.

I thought it would be fun to start a new years day tradition of going to the movies.  This was the first movie on yhe big screen for Sunshine. And the second one for Loveliness .  We went to see “rise of the guardians”.  I was unsure about the movie when I first saw it advertised mobyhs ago.  I thought it would be violent and scary.  I am glad I was wrong!   I absolutely loved this movie!
The kids really enjoyed it and so did Handsome.

The rest of my week was spent having an amazing time with my girls.  Everyday we did a fun craft, played a boardgame or cooked dinner together.

I had made a decision this year to start doing more things for me.  I want to start being more healthy with my eating and I want to start running.  I have been waking up everyday and running on my eliptical machine for 15 minutes and drinking green shakes.  It may not seem like much but everytime I have tried to exercise in the past.  I start an “action plan” and I usually overdo things and hurt myself and give up too quickly or have some sort of exuse for not doing it. My main goal this month is to set up a habit of waking up and working out.  Baby steps.. its better than doing nothing.

I have been getting the kids more involved in cooking.  I have been looking into doing more menu planning this year. I have been trying to go to the grocery store less amd cooking out of what I have in my cupboards.  I have made some amazing soups, fresh apple sauce and falafals.  I hope to make more home made foods and things for my family.

That’s all from me for this week.  I will be posting a post every other week to ottawa mommy club, so make sure you check them out for some content of mine that you won’t find here plus great contests, recipes, crafts, information on cool activites going on in Ottawa and other great stuff!
