With all this cold Freezing weather we have been having lately I have found myself seeking the comforts of warm delicious foods. Soups, warm breads, hot mashed potatoes and roasted meats. Foods that really wrap you in a blanket. I made this applesauce last month and thought I would post it again. I wanted to make it again this week but when I got to the cash register to buy my apples I noticed that the bag had a rip in it and possibly missing some apples.
Crock Pot Applesauce
8 -10 apples, cored and peeled
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp of clementine zest
juice of clementine
1 tbsp cinnamon
4 tbsp brown sugar (or less if too sweet)
core all apples and peel.
add all ingredients to crock and stir to cover all apples in juice and cinnamon/sugar mixture.
cover and simmer on low for 6 hours. stir once. When finished mash with a potato masher.
